Shawn

I am originally from America, but have lived overseas for a number of years. This has enabled me to gain valuable teaching experience in my home country as well as abroad. I have worked within, and am familiar with, the British Literacy and Numeracy Strategy, the International Baccalaureate Program and Common Core. Currently, I am working at a Swiss International School as a Primary Teacher of all subjects in English.

Over the years I have developed a specialty in the teaching of English and mathematics. I have led the teaching of mathematics for my grade level teams as a teacher of upper primary, and have worked as an EAL teacher, English as an Additional Language, for primary and middles school children in England and Switzerland. I have CELTA certification to teach English to adults.

I have a passion for my subjects, and enjoy finding fun and innovative ways to bring literature, grammar, spelling, and all the areas of mathematics to life for my students. My teaching experience has enabled me to plan for student progression by administering regular assessments, and communicating clear criteria and objectives for each lesson.

I have enjoyed many successful years as a classroom teacher and a one to one tutor. In both areas I continually strive to infuse my students with a feeling of success and a passion for learning that will last throughout their lives.
